Re: Courtney Kinney

Courtney
Kinney played this past high school season on our sophomore level softball team
(equivalent to “Junior Varsity”) and she was a vital part of our lineup. Courtney was one of the few players who
started and played in every game for us, and that accomplishment is a testament
to not just her skill and ability, but also to her knowledge of the game and
her versatility on the field and at the plate.
Courtney
hits well to all fields, and she hits with power. But what is most impressive for a player at
her level is that she always hits with a purpose.
She is smart at the plate and is willing to hit behind runners to move them
over, to bunt when needed, etc.
Courtney
had a .543 average in 94 at-bats, including 14 doubles and 13 homeruns. She is a very solid run-producer.
On the field,
Courtney is equally versatile. She’s a
strong, accurate thrower in all positions.
She is probably best suited to play second base, as she is an excellent
fielder and very good at that position.
However, this past season we were pressed in to using Courtney in centerfield,
and she did a remarkable job.
I am very
confident that Courtney will continue to improve her game at the varsity level
and that she will continue to develop into a productive college prospect. And I offer that perspective based not only
on her skills, but also on her attitude.
Courtney is a hard worker, and she is a supportive and encouraging
teammate. She has a quality of “quiet”
leadership that teammates appreciate.
(Coaches appreciate it too!)
If I can
be of any further assistance regarding Courtney’s future prospects in the game
of softball, please feel free to contact me.
